A Note From The President of the CFGPA March 7th 2021

A message from the President

Greetings CFGPA members,
First of all, I would like to thank all members that turned out for our Annual General Meeting this September.   And a warm welcome to the 2023 Board of Directors. I look forward to working with all of you.
There hasn’t been a lot happening on the range lately as the previous Board has tried to keep up with improvements and maintenance on a regular basis.  We did install a new fence on the west side of the property to keep the neighbour’s goats and pigs out of the range. As it is the time of year of storms, especially in the Fraser Valley, we had to do some cleanup and wind damage repairs. The 200M range gets hit fairly hard.
The Board has approved a new berm on the 200m that will extend past the 100m target line, so eventually, we may get steel targets there!!!
EYES AND EARS!! We are still having people and their guests on the range shooting without eye protection and on rare occasions, without ear protection. You must wear both while shooting or while in any of the ranges. This is for your and your guests’ protection as well as following Club rules( all ranges have the same rule).
Finally, I would like to wish all members a merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Be safe, shoot straight and have fun.
Jason Couture
CFGPA President

Thanks to all the CFGPA members and their families who came out for our Christmas Dinner this week. 70+ people enjoyed the delicious turkey & ham feast with a wonderful dessert and door prizes! Thanks to the Patrick family and Bruce Matthews for decorating the hall so beautifully, to Carolyn Hofbauer, her mum and Eric Beer for the food service, and to Nick Bolton for resurrecting the event after COVID. Special thanks to CFGPA members for donating so generously to the Chilliwack Foodbank with food items and cash. Merry Christmas and Happy 2023!

Junior 22 Programme Volunteer

The Junior 22 Programme is looking for a few regular volunteer members to help with running the Monday evening event.  If you are able and interested please reply by email to jr22@chilliwackfishandgame.com .  The duties are setting up the basement range prior to opening, grouping and guiding the youth attendees and monitoring for safe handling of the firearms.  Times for these sessions are from about 6:45 to about 8:30 on every Monday evening on days that the youth are at school.

Women Only Introduction to Firearms

Women Only Introduction to Shooting

2022 was a great year for the Women Only Introduction to Shooting events at the Chilliwack Fish & Game Protective Association.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID we started up again in July with women keen to know more about the safe handling of firearms. That event was so popular we had a long waiting list so ran the course again in August with our biggest class ever. And, we had still more women asking to participate and so we were able to squeeze in one last class in September before the evenings got too dark.

In total, we provided instruction to 100 women and girls this year ranging from young teenagers to ladies in their 70s. For a small $20 fee we provide firearms, ammunition, pizza and prizes! Our fabulous instructors taught the women the safe handling and firing of a rifle, revolver, and semi-auto pistol – all in 22 calibres. Huge thanks to our volunteer instructors: Bruce, Nick, Blake, Elizabeth, Steve, and of course Eric.

With the support of the board of directors, we’ll be offering these classes again in 2023!

Happy New Year
